The process of designing a new kitchen can seem overwhelming, so I just wanted to outline a few things you can do to streamline the process and get you on your way to the kitchen of your dreams!
Start by drawing a floorplan of your existing space…use graph paper to make it easier! Be as accurate as you can be, and note windows, doors and doorways, any unusual features, and any spaces you may be incorporating into your new kitchen. Put down your existing kitchen layout. If you know how you want your new kitchen to lay out, great! If not, no worries, we’ll work it out with you. But think about what works and doesn’t work with your existing space…is there something you’d like to store in a specific cabinet? Is there a feature of your current space you want to be sure you keep?
Look at lots of pictures on Pinterest, Houzz, or Instagram. Get a feel for what you like and don’t like. Sometimes if you’re not sure what you want, looking at pictures can start to narrow things down for you because it’s easier to look at something and determine whether you like it or not. Print the pictures you like and bring them in with you!
Figure out your budget. Knowing what you want to spend is hugely helpful to us, and we can usually let you know if the things you are wanting are workable with your budget. Keep in mind that in general materials are about 70% of the cost and labor is about 30%. Your materials will probably include cabinetry, countertops, tile, lighting, cabinet hardware, flooring, plumbing fixtures, and appliances.
Then all you have to do is come into our studio! We will work with you to make the kitchen you always wanted!
